Degree of preparation and use of e-learning in Higher Education: a case study in ESEIG / IPPorto

The assessment of the preparedness for e-learning is a very interesting for successfully implementing practices of e-learning strategy, since it allows to identify the most critical aspects to consider before and during implementation. This article describes a model to evaluate the readiness for implementing e-learning in an organization and presents results of the partial application of this model in the universe of the Polytechnic School of Porto. Data were collected through a questionnaire (students) through exploratory interviews (teachers and school management) and consultation of the distance learning system used (Moodle) files. This study was established as a pilot for an extended (the entire Polytechnic of Porto) model and monitoring their evolution application. This study will assess the procedures and instruments to use in the collection and processing of data and the practical point of view, propose an intervention project, which includes several recommendations, the school in question.Published
